The key to success in the DVD-Recordable market is cost optimization. This can be achieved by using pure silver without Protective Coat.

Migration of Ag is accelerated by heat and/or moisture. DIC’s DVD bonding glue for Silver was designed to prevent Moisture Permeability, but required very expensive raw materials and a high modulus, i.e. a very hard Bonding Layer.
