Automotive application is one of the largest PPS market in the past and the future. DIC-PPS has the superior performances as for heat resistance and chemical resistance and also has great cost reduction possibility based on high production capability with injection process compared with thermosetting resins or metals. In addition to the replacement of metals, phenol resin and/or polyamides, DIC-PPS has been used for newly developed components, especially in driving system, brake system, fuel system, lightings, cooling system, and total control system which is organizing such devises.
Broad type of standard DIC-PPS as FZ-1140, FZ-2140 (glass fiber reinforced type), FZ-3600 and FZ-6600 (glass fiber and mineral filled type) have been used for automotive applications, recently Super Tough "Z-series" like Z-230 and Z-650 has been increasing in this application because of its superior resistance of the thermal and mechanical shocks.
